Oštro becomes a member of the Global Investigative Journalism Network

Global Investigative Journalism Network (GIJN) links together the best non-profit investigative journalism centres, institutes, and media worldwide.

At its last meeting, the Board of Directors of Global Investigative Journalism Network (GIJN) “unanimously welcomed” Oštro as its new membership organisation. Oštro is now officially and closely linked together with 187 non-profit investigative journalism organisations from 78 countries around the globe.
In the last 17 years, GIJN became one of the most influential international non-profit media associations in the world. It actively supports the work of NGOs, educational institutions, and, above all, non-profit media who nurture and foster investigative reporting and related data journalism.
In addition to Oštro, one of new members is also Forbidden Stories, a French non-profit NGO that investigates murders of journalists and keeps their work alive; its member is also founder of Oštro Anuška Delić.
With this enlargement, GIJN welcomed its first member in Australia – Judith Neilson Institute for Journalism and Ideas – and first representing Syrian journalists – Syrian Investigative Reporting for Accountability Journalism (SIRAJ).
GIJN members also include other organisations that Oštro regularly collaborates with, such as Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP), Oštro being one of its members, and International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ), which Oštro collaborated with on Panama Papers and Implant Files. GIJN members are also Oštro’s partners from the neighbourhood: IRPI from Italy, Direkt36 and Atlatszo.hu from Hungary, and Dossier from Austria.
“After nine years, since I first participated at the Global Investigative Journalism Conference in Kiev, where I met extraordinary people from GIJN who are the true drivers behind the development of investigative journalism, I can now finally also officially feel at home in this network,” founder of Oštro commented the great event.
“GIJN membership is an immense honour for Oštro, even more so because it was unanimously approved, and also a great responsibility as we, amidst the daily pulse of minor and major affairs, continue to uphold the highest professional standards and make sure that we pave the way for generations of upright and perceptive journalists.”
